Rector – The Rev. Anderson Brown
Anderson Brown was raised in Los Angeles and graduated from San Diego State University. He is a graduate of Seabury Western Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. He married in 1973, and he and his wife, Carol, have four grown children. He served as an assistant priest at two churches before becoming Rector at Saint James in Ocean Beach in 1979. Father Brown has conducted many Retreats and Quiet Days including several based on the writings of St. Patrick. He has served on the National Council of Forward in Faith North America since 1994. In 2001, he took a sabbatical in Ireland and the results of his study have been published in his book : The Conversion of the Irish from St. Patrick to 700 AD: A Study in the Relationship between Gospel and Culture. (Ekklesia Publications, 2007) He resigned from the ministry of the Episcopal Church in September 2006, and was received as a priest in good standing in the Diocese of Argentina, in the Anglican Province of the Southern Cone. Holy Trinity Parish also elected to leave ECUSA in September, 2006, and Fr. Brown accepted the call to continue to serve as their Rector. Both he and the parish became founding members of the Diocese of Western Anglicans (Anglican Church in North America) in 2009.
Assistant Rector – The Rev. Peter Kent
Fr. Peter was born in Iowa and lived there until moving to San Diego in 1997. He is a graduate of Liberty University and Bethel Seminary. Prior to coming to Saint James he served as an intern and deacon with Holy Spirit Anglican Church in San Diego and as an admissions recruiter at Bethel Seminary. He has also served in other denominations as both a children’s and a youth pastor before ordination in the Anglican Church. Fr. Peter serves the Diocese of Western Anglicans as a member of the Executive Committee, chair of the Parish Health Committee, and also serves as the chaplain to San Diego Anglicans and secretary to the ACNA Liturgy and Common Worship Task Force. He has also taught a course in Anglican Spirituality at Bethel Seminary. Fr. Peter is married to Martha and the two of them have a rambunctious golden retriever named Oscar.
